White Noise”: Watch LCD Soundsystem’s surreal dance scene
White Noise’s LCD Soundsystem dance scene has been shared online. You can see it below.
Premiering on Netflix on December 30, this 1980s comedy drama stars Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig and Don Cheadle.
Noah Baumbach – a longtime collaborator of James Murphy – wrote and directed the film based on Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel of the same name. It features an original soundtrack by Danny Elfman.
One of the songs that will appear on the official soundtrack is “New Body Rhumba,” which marked LCD Soundsystem’s first new track in five years after its release last September. It was reported the previous month that Murphy and his company had been hired to compose the song for White Noise.
Now, Netflix has released the full seven-minute scene in which the entire cast is seen performing a surreal dance routine to ‘New Body Rhumba’ in a supermarket. Listen here:
LCD Soundsystem head James Murphy has scored two of Baumbach’s previous films: Greenberg (2010) and While We’re Young (2014).
In a four-star review of White Noise, NME wrote: “Broadly true to the source material, Baumbach does a remarkably light job of translating his imagery to the screen. characters seem detached from reality in a way that is hard to find.”
You can check out the full soundtrack here.
Meanwhile, LCD Soundsystem’s “New Body Rhumba” is on the shortlist for Best Original Song at the 2023 Oscars.
Last month, the band completed a live residency at Brooklyn Steel in New York.
