Watch Ten Year Old Perform Brutal Cover of Slipknot’s ‘The Heretic Anthem’

Ten-year-old Zoë Franziska leads a brutal version of Slipknot’s “The Heretic Anthem”, while the rest of the band is made up of 7- to 17-year-olds.

“WARNING: Zoë is so intense your screen may catch on fire,” reads the video’s description. “You could have a nightmare if you looked into her eyes and you might start thinking that Corey Taylor needs a vocal coach. A singing teacher named Zoë Franziska.”

The performance also includes a new guitar solo, written by 12-year-old guitarist Xander Markewich.

Slipknot originally released “The Heretic Anthem” as part of their 2001 breakout album “Iowa,” and you can check out the cover art starring Franziska below.

Earlier this year, Franziska went viral with her cover of Korn’s “Freak On A Leash.”

The performance was organized by the O’Keefe Music Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to provide instruments, music lessons and recording opportunities to young musicians around the world. “Why? Because art gives voice to our dreams and live music performance is becoming an endangered art.” You can donate here.

For their part, Slipknot will return to the UK next year for Downloads Festival 2023. They will be joined by fellow headliners Bring Me The Horizon, while Metallica will deliver two completely different performances over two nights.

Speaking to NME about Slipknot’s return to Download, organizer Andy Copping said: “They’ve worked their way up the bill and in 2009 I was determined to give them their first headline event at a festival around the world. . They go. Since then they have been very involved in the festival. The fans love them, the band love Download and to have them back for the 20th anniversary, after another great album, is the perfect time.”

Copping continued: “One of the things Download has over most music festivals is that community spirit. Everyone loves the music.”
