Maggie Rogers has shared the lively official video for her new single “Horses”.
Horses,” released today (July 15), is the third single from Rogers’ second album, “Surrender,” due July 29. It follows “That’s Where I Am” and “Want Want.”
Speaking about the new song, Rogers said: “There have only been a few rare times in my life when two songs appeared on the same day. And only once when three songs appeared at the same time. This was the case of ‘Horses’.
“I was at Real World Studios with my dear colleague, Kid Harpoon. The first day, I sat down at the piano and he sat down at the drums and ‘Overdrive’ came pouring out. I immediately knew it was the opening it was a track on the album. We started on the second day with ‘That’s Where I Am’, picked up ‘I’ve Got A Friend’ after lunch, and went back to playing ‘Horses’ after dinner and a glass or two of wine, Tom started playing guitar and I started writing immediately. I looked up to ask what he was thinking and he said ‘keep going’ I wonder if he was in called him night time and he said ‘go ahead’.
He said, “When I finished the lyrics, I suggested we record this morning and he said, ‘Give it a take.’ That climb is ‘Horses.’ It’s a song about letting go. About wanting to be free in A. time when I felt too much numbness. Sometimes I sing to someone I love, sometimes to a friend. Sometimes I think I’m singing for myself. And I love that I can’t always tell the difference.”
