Watch Kevin Bacon and Jimmy Fallon turn Tears For Fears’ “Head Over Heels” into an anthem of the moment
Kevin Bacon and The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon have covered Tears For Fears’ ‘Head Over Heels’ – and made a song about the weather.
The pair performed their version as part of The Tonight Show’s “Early Drafts of Rock” segment, in which Bacon joins Fallon to play a classic song he thinks is an early draft of the song’s lyrics.
On Wednesday night’s show (August 3), Bacon and Fallon performed their own version of Tears For Fears’ 1985 song ‘Head Of Heels’, which is the second single from the British band’s second album, ‘Songs From The Big Chair’.
In the clip, which you can watch below, Bacon and Fallon appear in a blurry video accompanied by a backing band and sporting curly hair.
Footloose actor and musician himself Bacon sings: “I wanted to be with you alone / And talk about the weather / It’s raining in Seattle, so if you’re going out / you might want an umbrella .”
Fallon sings in the second verse: “I’ve got a degree in meteorology / To talk about the weather / As the dew rises the humidity rises / As the temperature rises / That’s just, just, just summer.”
The original lyrics of the song have the first lines: “I wanted to be with you alone / And talk about the weather”.
The two then sing together on the chorus: “For the weather you can call Tears for Fear / We’ll check on the radar if the skies will be clear / A warm front is coming, so the clouds are clear / With a light wind, 80 degrees we go, let’s go, look at the four-day forecast / four-day forecast by days”, [letra vÃa Billboard].
“Head Over Heels” spent a total of 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, where it reached number three in 1985. In the UK it reached number 12.
Meanwhile, Bacon will star in the remake of The Toxic Avenger, which is set for release sometime in 2022.
