Watch Jason Momoa perform Metallica and Pantera in concert

Pictures of Jason Momoa walking into a mosh pit at a recent Metallica and Pantera concert surfaced all over the internet.

The actor, known for his roles in Game of Thrones, Aquaman, and Fast X, is a long-time metalhead, and got the chance to meet Metallica during their concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday ( 25 August).and again on Sunday (27 August).

In a clip obtained by Stereogum, Momoa can be seen exclaiming “These bastards opened with ‘Whilplash’!” before running into the crowd to join a circle as Metallica started their concert on Sunday.

In other clips shared online, the Aquaman star can be seen jumping alongside other fans as Pantera opened the show.

When the performances were over, Jason Momoa took to his official Instagram page to share a snapshot of his meeting with Metallica. He revealed that he had planned to bring his friend Travis Snyder with him, but had to undergo an emergency medical procedure. Instead, he went on a video call with Snyder and introduced him to the band over the call.

Momoa also thanked Metallica for their donation to help Maui after the recent wildfires. Momoa wrote on Instagram: “We are so grateful to Metallica for connecting with him. You guys are the soundtrack to our lives. And mahalo for donating to Maui. @allwithinmyhandsfoundation it’s epic pls check it out.”

Jason Momoa wasn’t the only star to attend the Metallica concerts in Los Angeles, where Pantera also played as the opening act. John Travolta and Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe also went backstage with Pantera. Check out a photo of the band with Travolta, Lee and Momoa below.

Pantera have announced plans to reunite with a reformed lineup in July 2022, featuring Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne) on guitar and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) on drums joining frontman Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex. Brown.

The heavy metal giants’ current concert series marks their first tour in 22 years. It started earlier this month with an inaugural concert in Pennsylvania. They also serve as the opening act for Metallica on their “M72” tour.
