Watch as The Smile premiere their new song “Bending Hectic” at the Montreux Jazz Festival
The Smile debuted another new track during their set at the Montreux Jazz Festival last night (July 12).
Radiohead’s side project – consisting of Thom Yorke Sons Of Kemet, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner – played the event in Switzerland in support of their debut album “A Light For Attracting Attention”, released in May.
Since the release of the album, the trio have put together three new songs for their fans on their current European tour: ‘Bodies Laughing’, ‘Funeral Of A Friend’ and ‘Colours Fly’.
According to Setlist.FM, The Smile premiered a fourth track titled ‘Bending Hectic’ in last night’s show. “I can see the lyrics, that’s good,” Yorke said to introduce the performance, “because I wrote it half an hour ago. So we followed for the train wreck.”
Below you can see images of the song, seven minutes long, taken by fans.
Yorke recently revealed that The Smile is working on new material. Sharing a video of the group ‘Colour’s Fly’ performing at Primavera Sound, the frontman wrote: “New…work in progress…there are some..”
The aforementioned set in Barcelona last month caught the attention of The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, who described it as “the best show I’ve seen in years”. and he said to him: “Shiiiiiit thank you”.
The Smile recently announced their first North American tour for November and December 2022.
Before that tour, they will return to the UK to support Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at All Points East in London on August 28. You can see the other European and UK dates for Smile below.
