Kana Hanazawa, who played Kanade Tachibana in Angelic beats and Nadeko Sengoku in monologues series joins Urusei Yatsura Restart the anime as Lum’s childhood friend Ran. The anime also revealed that it will run in two back-to-back courses, while also confirming an October 2022 premiere. Studio David Production is animating the reboot.
Kana Hanazawa shared her memories of the series opening: “When I was young, I first came across Urusei Yatsura. I was amazed by “Lum’s Love Song” I heard somewhere and it made me want to be able to sing the sweet song and then I listened to it countless times. It’s my favorite song and I definitely sing it at karaoke even now.” As for the character Ran, who she voices in the anime, she describes her as a girl with a “dual personality, going from extreme cute mode to extreme fierce mode” and adds that her charm shows that she will never stop boring you . Both emotions arise for reasons, so she hopes to “play her strong while still standing behind her feelings.“
“The cute PV made me even more excited for what the upcoming Urusei Yatsura revival will look like,,” the voice actor began his message to fans. “She tries to think of something, but her plan always fails: I hope for your support for precious Ran-chan too!” You can watch the anime’s first trailer below:
