The R&B and soul trio – Raphael Saadiq, his brother D’Wayne Wiggins and Timothy Christian Riley – have announced that they will be undertaking ‘Raphael Saadiq Revisits Tony! Tony! I played Just Me and You’ in the United States this September.

Kicking off in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 21, the group will make stops in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Nashville, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and more, before concluding in San Francisco, California on the 17 November.

Announcing the news in a press release, Saadiq, who will also be doing work from his solo career, shared: “I’ve always wanted to bring my family back together. It’s a thank you to the fans to play the Tonys again, the Super Tonians, for supporting all my musical endeavours.

“Those who were with us from day one, where would I be? But the main reason is that my father, Charlie Wiggins, would want it like this: to see me, D’Wayne and Tim playing together again. ”

Tony! Tony! Tone! disbanded in 1996 after the release of their fourth studio album “House of Music”.

Saadiq, who has also worked with the likes of BeyoncĂ© and Solange, released his first solo album ‘Instant Village’ in 2002, followed by ‘Ray Ray’ (2004), ‘The Way I See It’ (2008) and Stone Rollin” (2011). Eight years later, he released the 2019 album ‘Jimmy Lee’.

Around the release of his latest solo album, the artist told NME that “I’ve been working on new Tonys music for about 15 years.”

Speaking about the revival at the time, he said: “I felt like we should do something, a few songs, maybe seven or eight of them and then do some shows. So I’m not going back because I’m so good. a lot going on, but in As far as doing a tour and an EP or something, I’m in.”

“Actually, I want to play the last record we did together, House of Music. We never toured with that record, so if everybody wants it I want to do it and through put out a new record.”
