Tom Grennan has shared a new song he describes as the “most personal song” he’s ever written – listen to ‘You Are Not Alone’ below.
The song will appear on Grennan’s upcoming album “What Ifs & Maybes”, due out early next year.
By sharing the song, the singer wrote a message to her fans in which she explained the meaning of the song.
I can’t sum it up in one quote, so I want to talk to you about it directly.
” For me it’s not just another one, it’s much more than that. It’s the most personal song I’ve ever written. I want these lyrics to help others as much as they are writing helped me. I was open and raw in previous songs, but when this song started coming out of me, it was different.
“‘You Are Not Alone’ is a song about kindness, and for anyone who has ever been alone.”
Grennan added: “It’s no secret, I’ve had to work on my own mental health for a long time and I continue to do so on a daily basis. I’m in crisis and, when I talk to my friends, it seems like everyone’s mental health is a suffering person.
“I’m in a position I never thought I’d be in, so I want to use my platform to give back, raise awareness and start a movement of kindness. this winter, not giving material things, but by connecting with people and giving them something in return: support, kindness and love.
The message continued: “While Christmas can be a time of joy for many, it can also be a time of deep loneliness, and I hope this song speaks to that feeling and that he gives you that warm hug that you may need at this time”.
“Now more than ever we need to take care of each other and ourselves. I hope you enjoy it as much as I can. Whether it helps one person or millions, I’ll be Tom happy!”
Next year, Grennan will embark on a 10-show UK tour in support of his new album, and he has been praised for his efforts to make tickets for his 2023 tour as cheap as possible. “The pinch is real and I take it very seriously,” says the singer.
