Tim Burgess from The Charlatans will join Johnny Marr on Electronic’s ‘Getting Away With It’

Tim Burgess from The Charlatans joined Johnny Marr at his concert in Halifax this weekend.

During her concert at Piece Hall on Saturday (August 26), Marr welcomed Burgess on stage to perform the song “Getting Away With It”.

“We’re going to play a disco song from Manchester, from the Treasury,” Marr told the audience.

“And what’s even better,” he said, “we’ll be joined by a friend – he’s a national treasure – Mr Tim Burgess from The Charlatans.”

After the show, Burgess shared footage of the collaboration, saying it was “exciting.”

This performance is the latest in a series of recent collaborations for Marr on stage. Earlier this month, Gaz Coombes joined Marr on stage to perform The Smiths classic “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” at Lakefest 2023.

Billy Duffy from The Cult with Marr came on stage to play songs by The Smiths and Depeche Mode.

The gig took place at Frome’s Cheese and Grain venue last week (August 16) as part of Johnny Marr’s latest series of solo concerts, and featured tracks from across his career, including solo tracks and classics from The Smiths.

In April, the musician announced a series of UK summer concerts for 2023, ending at the end of this month. You can check the dates and find the remaining tickets here.

Last year he released his latest solo album, “Fever Dreams Pts 1-4,” which NME praised in a four-star review for being a “movement highlight.”
