Thundercat has announced a late night show in Glasgow tonight (July 1) – see full details below.
The Los Angeles musician was scheduled to play tonight as the opening act for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Bellahouston Park in the Scottish city, but the concert was canceled this morning due to an unspecified illness in the band’s staff.
Now Thundercat, which will open for the RHCP on a number of UK and European dates this summer, have confirmed that they will be playing in place of Glasgow’s St. Luke’s. Tickets are now available here for £ 15.
You can see the official concert poster below.
Thundercat last performed in Glasgow in March, as part of the 202 UK and European tour. They released their latest studio album, 2020’s “It Is What It Is”, on the stage at a prestigious Barrowland Ballroom from the city.
Yesterday (June 30), the artist visited the Thundercat Pub + Diner in Glasgow. “I have a named bar in Glasgow !!!” she said a few pictures on instagram. “Holy! I feel seen! LOL !!!”
The Red Hot Chili Peppers show, filed tonight, was the group’s debut in Glasgow since 2016.
“We are working on how to reschedule the event. Please reserve your tickets and seek an update soon,” they wrote about the cancellation in a statement.
“The RHCP love Scotland and are very disappointed not to be able to put on the show. Thank you for your understanding.”
Earlier this month, A $ AP Rocky showed up so late for the band’s gig in Manchester – where it was scheduled to open – that the Chilis ended up performing in front of him.
Both A $ AP and Thundercat will join the Red Hot Chili Peppers as they resume their 2022 tour in Cologne, Germany on July 5th.
