The Weeknd abruptly ends his show in Los Angeles

The Weeknd abruptly ended his performance in Los Angeles last night (September 3), stopping the show at a sold-out stadium for three songs.

At the start of the concert at the Sofi Stadium – the second in a row at that venue and which is part of The Weeknd’s current ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ world tour – the artist informed his fans that he was putting the show cancelled, after it was lost. his voice in through a performance of ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.

According to fan images, the artist left the stage letting the song end without him. Returning to the stage with the house lights on, The Weeknd told his stunned audience: “I’m going to make sure everybody’s okay, I’m going to give you your money back. But I’ll put on a show for you soon .”

The images also showed The Weeknd offering a personal apology, adding that he didn’t want to tweet or Instagram.

Later, The Weeknd -aka Abel Tesfaye- posted a statement on Twitter: “My voice went haywire during the first song. [‘Alone Again’]” he explained. “I felt him go and my heart dropped.

“My sincere apologies to my fans here.”

Fans were quick to respond to The Weeknd’s statement, offering their support.

Last night’s stop in California is part of The Weeknd’s ongoing world tour. Although the extent of The Weeknd’s vocal problems is unclear, at the time of writing, Ticketmaster has revealed that several European tour dates in September, October and November have been cancelled.

Last night’s concert opened with a screening of the trailer for The Idol, the upcoming drama series created by The Weeknd and Euphoria director Sam Levinson.

The series – which stars The Weeknd, Troye Sivan, Lily-Rose Depp and BLACKPINK’s Jennie in her acting debut – will premiere on HBO later this year.
