The tunnel to the summer, the exit goodbye the film revealed a teaser trailer, along with the opening date of September 9 in Japan. CLAP Studio is responsible for the production, directed by Tomohisa Taguchi.

The tunnel to the summer, the exit goodbyeis a light novel written by Mei Hashimoku and illustrated by KUKKA. There is also a manga adaptation with art from Kudon. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both light novelandmangain English and describes the story as:
Tono Kaoru heard a rumor: The laws of space and time mean nothing to the Urashima Tunnel. If you find it, go through it and you will find the desire of your heart on the other side… in exchange for years of your own life. At night, Kaoru accidentally finds himself in front of a tunnel that looks suspiciously like the one describing the rumor, he turns out to be thinking about Karen, the sister who lost in an accident five years ago. To Kaoru’s surprise, he is followed by new transfer student Anzu Hanaki, who promises to help him experiment with the mysterious tunnel – but what does she want from Kaoru in return? And what will he have to give after the tunnel is over?
