The theme for the second season of The White Lotus is a surprise festival song.
Renaissance (Main Title Theme)” was composed by Chilean-Canadian artist Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who also wrote the theme song for the first season of HBO’s dark comedy camouflage series.
Unlike the theme song from the first season, “Renaissance” is a more upbeat track that breaks down EDM towards the end, a structure that has drawn crowds at festivals and beyond.
As well as inspiring thousands of TikToks and many passionate arguments against the “skip intro” button, the track was remixed and played at concerts by The Killers and Dominic Fike.
For weeks, social media users have been sharing images of the song being played at festivals and clubs, and attendees were delighted to hear it.
The theme was recently performed at the Meredith music festival in Victoria (Australia), where thousands of people sang along to the rhythm of its strange melody.
A large image of actress Jennifer Coolidge, star of the series, was also seen at the festival that night.
Songwriter Tapia de Veer recently spoke to Buzzfeed about the song’s viral success.
“It’s really unexpected. Unlike producing material for a band or my own record, it’s never about a show. It’s always about attending the show and not really thinking about a hit or an independent single or nothing for nothing.” The style. So it’s like the icing on the cake.”
And he adds: “It seems to be a club already. It’s like a party and celebration in style”.

The White Lotus has been renewed for a third season, although its location has yet to be revealed.
The series tells the stories of rich people who spend their holidays at the luxurious White Lotus hotel chain, with many twists, surprises and scandals. The first season takes place in Hawaii.
In September, the series won the 2022 Emmy for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
