The Second Lightyear Trailer introduces Plot, Characters

We’re so close to the origin story that none of us knew we wanted to get it. Lightyear, the Toy Story spinoff movie that ironically turns Buzz Lightyear into real human space, released its second official trailer today after dropping the impressive trailer a few months ago, and it’s much tougher in terms of the plot and the new characters.

The film stars Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear, but this time it’s not a toy. As mentioned, the film tells the story of the origin of the fictional character who inspires the toy, making the origins very meta. It’s probably best not to try to analyze the continuity of this movie and enjoy the journey, as we see Buzz marooned on an alien planet, millions of light – years from Earth, with his commander and crew. When they think they have found a solution, Buzz makes a test jump, but launches it into the future, where he must team up with the descendants of his friends and fight against the evil Emperor Zurg, whom we have already seen in the. Toy story movies. .

The voice cast for the new characters is rather relaxed, as you would expect from a Pixar movie like Lightyear, with Uzo Aduba playing Alisha Hawthorne, the Buzz commander, and Peter Sohn as the Sox, the robotic cat. Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Dale Soules cast the cast of the future as Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison and Darby Steel, respectively. And the voice of everyone’s favorite villain, James Brolin, plays Zurg.

The first thing that jumps out at you in this trailer is how full of action Lightyear is. While clearly aimed at children, it’s not as family – friendly as the Toy Story movies, and Pixar seems to be entering a new realm full of lasers, spacecraft and explosions. Hopefully this different approach from the studio does not mean that the heart and emotional force that is characteristic of Pixar movies is lost.
