The Rolling Stones share the video of ‘We Love You’ from 1967 on the Internet for the first time

The Rolling Stones have shared their 1967 “promo film” for the song ‘We Love You’ online for the first time.

The video documents and mocks the infamous Redlands drug bust from the same year, in which Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Marianne Faithfull were arrested at Richards’ home in Sussex for drug possession.

In the film, which has been remastered in 4K for online release, Richards plays a judge, while Jagger and Marianne Faithfull take part in a mock recreation of his subsequent trial.

‘We Love You’ is the latest Rolling Stones video to be remastered in 4K this year, after both versions of the ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ video were remastered and released this month.

Looking ahead, Keith Richards has shared that he “hopes” the band will have recorded new material by the end of the year.

Speaking to Matt Wilkinson for The Rolling Stones: 60th Anniversary special show on Apple Music 1, Richards said that while he could not say what formats the band will release their new material, he hopes that some things recorded by the band at the end of the year”.

“However, I just make records and then we’ll see how they come out, right? That’s what I’ll do,” he said, noting that he wasn’t sure if the new songs would be available on streaming platforms.

Richards previously confirmed that Rolling Stones touring drummer Steve Jordan will be available to help the band complete their new album. Jordan began filling in for the Stones on drums after the death of long-time drummer Charlie Watts in August last year, and was supported by Watts before his death.

This week (August 24), Jagger paid tribute to Watts on the centenary of his death, writing, “I miss Charlie because he had a great sense of humor,” he began. “And we were also, outside the band… we went out a lot and we had interesting times. We were into sports: we went to football, we went to cricket matches, and we had other interests besides the music.”

“But of course I miss Charlie.”
