The Nova twins cancel the Les Nuits Secrètes show due to queues in Dover

Nova Twins have canceled their scheduled performance at Les Nuits Secrètes tonight (July 22) due to travel issues.

The London duo were scheduled to perform on the first night of the three-day festival, which will take place in Aulnoye Aymeries in northern France.

However, the group have confirmed this evening on social media that they have withdrawn from the event.

“We regret to say that we can no longer go to Les Nuits Secrètes due to the long queues for the ferry at Dover in time for our performance tonight,” Nova Twins wrote in a statement.

“We are sorry to miss the festival, but there has been non-stop traffic at the port since 8am and the situation is completely out of control.”

They added: “We miss our French family and we are waiting to return as soon as possible. À bientôt!” [¡Hasta pronto!]“.

The group also shared a screenshot of a BBC News article on the current situation in Dover, Kent. According to the report, the port has declared a “critical incident” due to six-hour queues to the ferry terminal.

According to Dover MP Natalie Elphicke, the delay was due to French border agents “failing to show up for work”. French border resources are said to have increased since then, and “traffic is starting to move slowly.”

However, port staff have warned that “it will take some time to clear the jam” from vehicles.

Nova Twins released their second studio album, ‘Supernova’, last month. In a five-star review, NME wrote: “More dynamic, more experimental and far more expansive than its predecessor, ‘Supernova’ is a bigger album in every way. [que su debut de 2020 ‘Who Are The Girls?’]“.

The album was subsequently included in NME’s “Best Albums of 2022… So Far!” report; you can check the full list here.
