The Japanese made One Piece the best live action in history

The Japanese portal Myjitsu shared an article dedicated to the live-action series of “ONE PIECE” and its great success since its premiere a few days ago. According to the wording, the adaptation generated a lot of excitement inside and outside of Japanespecially since some consider it even better than the anime adaptation in its early days.

«From last August 31, the Netflix platform began the distribution of the live-action series adaptation of “ONE PIECE”, based on the popular manga by Eiichiro Oda. While live-action manga adaptations are often controversial, this new release has a wave of surprised fans and the criticism is skyrocketing.».

«The Netflix version of ONE PIECE is an eight-episode story that corresponds to the “East Blue Saga” of the original manga. Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, enters the ocean with the dream of becoming the Pirate King, and teams up with the pirate hunter Zoro, played by Arata Mackenyu, and the mysterious thief Nami, played by Emily Rudd.».

«The charming words and actions of the characters, the wonderful and romantic view of the world, and the powerful action scenes… In every aspect, the original “ONE PIECE” is faithfully recreated. Also, in the first episode, “Mr. 7” from Baroque Works comes to recruit Zoro, who is well known in the East Blue, and is stuck. In the original story, this scene was only indirectly mentioned, but in the live-action version, a surprise is prepared in the form of a battle scene between Zoro and Mr. 7.».

«There are also plenty of other features that will make fans of the original work smile, like Shanks and Mihawk watching Roger’s execution, and the series is an excellent reconstruction of the first few episodes. “One Piece” fans who have already seen it left positive comments such as: “It’s more interesting than I expected. I felt a great love for the original work…“, “The legend has begun, the ONE PIECE world existed“, “Perhaps more interesting than the anime version».

«It seems that the Japanese ONE PIECE fans aren’t the only ones who hold the live-action series in high esteem. On Rotten Tomatoes, one of the main foreign film review websites, the film received a high score with 82% in the critics’ evaluation and 94% in the users’ evaluation. from 1 September».

«One critic said: “This live-action adaptation of ONE PIECE is of the highest quality, thanks in part to the uncompromising supervision of the original author, Eiichiro Oda. To be honest, it is still much better than the anime version of “ONE PIECE”, produced by Toei Animation. The animated version of “ONE PIECE” had major draw and pacing issues until the original author’s supervision of the Wano Country Arc tightened. The quality was such that it couldn’t be something that everyone liked, so the Netflix version can be considered a huge success in that regard.”».

«And continued: “What’s worse is that the same voice actors were used for the Japanese dubbed version as in the anime version, including Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy. There are many fans of the original works who did not accept the anime version at first precisely because of his voice, therefore it would be better to use voice actors to match the actors in the live action versioninstead of being inspired by the anime version”».
