The first Slam Dunk movie gets a new trailer after the premiere

The first dunkanime film introduced the basketball team’s teacher Mitsuyoshi Anzai in a new countdown trailer that also featured five club members on Friday. The film premiered on December 3 in Japan and has grossed over ¥4.1 billion (≒$30 million) as of December 19.

He says basketball kept him alive. In addition to the character, the voices of Mitsuyoshi Anzai and Ayako can be heard in the video along with the ending theme song, “Dai Zero-kan” by 10-FEET.

Studios Toei Animation and DandeLion Animation Studio animated the film based on Takehiko InoueStudsmanga that was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from October 1990 to June 1996 for a total of 31 volumes. The series has surpassed 120 million copies in circulation. The author of the manga directed and wrote the screenplay for the adaptation.

Viz Media licensed the manga for English versions and all volumes have been published. The official site describes the plot ofthe first volumeas:
