
The Chainsaw Man gets a New Year’s Pochita preview from a character designer
The official Twitter account of Tatsuki Fujimoto A man with a chainsaw series released a New Year’s illustration of Pochita drawn by anime character designer Kazutaka Sugiyama. On the same day, the manga released the 13th volume along with an announcement that the series had surpassed 23 million copies in circulation. MAPPA animates A man with a chainsaw anime that airs from October to December 2022 with a total of 12 episodes.
The New Year’s Eve visual features the chainsaw-wielding devil known as Pochita, dressed in a kimono, enjoying a rice cake on top of the bread, surrounded by white rabbits. This is the year of the Rabbit in the Japanese zodiac. The character designer revealed in a a tweet that he wants it to be similar to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s profile pictures with Pochita used in the manga’s compiled volumes.

Tatsuki Fujimoto originally serializedA man with a chainsawmanga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to January 2021 with a total of 11 volumes. The second installment of the series has been published in Shonen Jump+ since July 2022. The anime adaptation by MAPPA was voted Anime Corner’s most anticipated fall 2022 anime by fans, and the anime also won the 2022 Google Search Awards in the anime category.
Viz Media licensed the manga for English editions and published all 11 volumes of the first part so far. The official site describes the plot ofthe debut volumeas:
