The Big Pink Share “Safe and Sound” and London Album Launch Details

The Big Pink have shared a new track called “Safe and Sound” and have announced an album launch party in London.

The Robbie Furze-led project announced their return last month with details of their new album ‘The Love That’s Ours’, their first record in a decade and follow-up to 2012’s ‘Future This’.

The new album is due out on September 30th, and the following week (October 5th), the band will be hosting an official album release party at the new London venue HERE @ Outernet. Tickets for that show are available here.

Discussing the new single “Safe and Sound”, Furze mentioned the song’s lyrics: “Dancing with these vultures in my runaway apartment / Angels with clipped wings looking for the love we have.”

He explained, “These lines perfectly sum up the record. I moved to Los Angeles to find my record and I found it, but at a price. I was in search of every temptation known to mankind. I was promised love . I was promised riches . I was promised the world.” “Drugs, women, stardom, all the clich├ęs that plagued me and nipped at my heels. I got caught up there. I was hung up and lost. Now I can throw my hands up and admit it. “

“For a while I lost my wife. I lost my family and my friends and above all, I lost my mind.”

Furze said on the new album: “Somehow we’ve made it this far! Our record is about to come out. Thank you! I’ve been lost, confused, down many rabbit holes, sometimes running completely blind, so much so that I lost almost everything that was important to me, everything that I really liked.”

“This album symbolizes a lot, it is my flag at the top. It shows that I finally understand what is really important. It is the soundtrack of my journey to get here,” he said.

Furze, who moved to Los Angeles from London for the past 10 years, where he was DJing and hanging out with other creative people, recently spoke to NME about the band’s comeback.

In the interview, the musician talked about how Wolf Alice helped him regroup, and why “indie sleaze” is now making a comeback.

“We did some stuff with Wolf Alice when they came to Los Angeles,” Furze said. “I’m friends with Joel, the drummer, and he asked us to go on tour with them. I was doing a few small demos of new material, but we agreed to do a set of old material. We did a US tour with them in 2018 and That’s when I realized that this was my calling and that I had to go back on stage: this is really what I wanted to do.”

‘The Love That’s Ours’ is now available for pre-order.
