Preview episode 1 of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten the anime has been released. The episode will air on January 7th at 22:30 (JST). Lihua Wang directed the series with Animation Project #9.
The first episode will focus on Amane Fujimiya and Mahiru Shiina, the main characters of the series, and how they met. Fujimiya lives alone in his apartment and admits that he cannot communicate with other people. One day, on his way home from school, he sees Shiina – the prettiest girl in school – soaking wet in the rain.
He then lends his umbrella to Sheena and as a result, Fujimiya catches a cold the next day due to being in the rain. And while the two had no previous contact, Sheena decided to visit Fujimiya to help with the housework, and that’s where their relationship began.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten the anime is based on a light novel series written by Saekisan and illustrated by Hanekoto. It is currently published by SB Creative and is still running as of June 2019. It then received a manga adaptation with art by Wan Shibata in January 2022, published under Square Enix. Crunchyroll streams the anime outside of Japan.
Yen Press released the light novel in English, describing it as:
Mahiru is a beautiful girl whose classmates call her “angel”. Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades—she’s also stunningly beautiful. Amane, an average person and a self-confessed slob, never thought much of divine beauty despite attending the same school. However, everything changes when he happens to see Mahiru sitting alone in a park during a rainstorm. Thus begins the strange relationship between this incredibly unlikely couple!
