Ted Nugent says Joan Jett is ‘Personally Attacking Me’ in Top 100 Guitar Comments

Ted Nugent has responded to Joan Jett after retreating from being included on the Top 100 Guitarists list.

Earlier this year, Nugent opposed the Runaways legend to 87th place on a list compiled by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke in 2003 (and republished online in 2010).

“You have to have shit for brains and you have to be heartless to put Joan Jett [ahí]Nugent commented on the list during the YouTube live stream on December 30, adding that he also “loves[ba] Joan … ‘Put another dime in the jukebox, baby’ – great rock and roller “.

He then tried to clarify his views in another interview: “I started praising Joan Jett ‘s true all – American rock and roll credentials,” Nugent said. I even suggested the lesbian issue. “

He continued, “Here’s the question: how in God’s good, green earth can anyone listen to what I say and then claim that it’s hate and beating and belittling? Joan’s amazing. Runaways. “All to you, ‘Add another dime. in the jukebox, baby. ‘ I mean, she’s the real McCoy of rock and roll. ”

He continued: “But to be on the list of ‘100 best guitarists’ anywhere on planet Earth, even ‘Boring’ Stone before the real six – string virtuosos? That was my claim. I was give Joan just an example of it. it turns out she’s perfect. “

Following his comments, Jett dropped back in a new interview with NME this week.

“What is your implication that he should be on the list instead of me?” on her again. “Well, that’s typical, that’s what I’ve dealt with my whole life, writing off.

“He’s not a tough guy. He plays tough, but he’s the guy who narrows his pants – literally – so he didn’t have to go to the army.”

Concluding his judgment of the controversial and independent conservative musician, he said: “This is a tough guy running around America, putting things up against everyone else.”

Now, Nugent has responded in a new video, which you can see above, on its YouTube channel.

“I’m talking about Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the top 100 guitarists in rock and roll history, and I mentioned Joan Jett,” he said. I love Joan Jett and have I mentioned how much I love her. I love his music. John, I love you. It’s real rock and roll, awesome, plus I love lesbians. I think it’s great. So I praised her and blessed her. I just said that Mark Farner should be on the list before Joan Jett because she’s not an extremely hot guitar player.

He continued: “She plays the chords and the songs very well. I have said nothing but good things about her. Joan Jett cannot be on the list of the 100 best guitarists in the history of rock and roll before Rik Emmett, however.Don’t be on the list, and Joni Mitchell is on the list but not Derek St. Holmes, Ricky Medlocke, John Sykes, Chris Duarte or Jimmy McCarty.

“I never mentioned myself. Let me play keyboard. I never said I should be on that list. I love you Joan but you are no better guitarist than any of the guys and she attacked on me.”

Nugent said: “I’ve said that many guitar players are deadly, and Joan is a good guitar player. She makes great music, it’s not adventurous the way I like it, but it’s great. ‘she viciously attacked me personally, saying she was jealous because I wasn’t there, I never mentioned that I should be there.

“With all due respect, Joan. I love her. I said I love her, but she’s on the list of best guitarists, but not Derek, Medlocke or Farner. She’s Joni Mitchell. I love you , Joni; for those who love country music, you are the best. I’m not jealous that you are not here. “

Jett has not yet responded to the latest comments from Nugent.

Nugent has attracted much controversy over the years, especially for claiming that America does not have a gun problem, reiterating baseless claims that Antifa and Black Lives Matters activists were behind the 2021 Capitol riots in Washington, calling for survivors Parkland shot “patetic” and “soulless,” saying he was “ashamed” of gay sex (denying homophobic), and referring to former President Barack Obama as a “subhuman half-caste” ( which he later apologized for).

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello defended his unlikely relationship with Nugent, arguing that he has “reserved the right to be friends with anyone”.

“I reserve the right to address disagreeable views, with an open heart and love, or to throw a brick,” he told NME. “It simply came to our notice then.

“For Ted, I know he has the last right wing, but many times I have approached him on questions that would surprise you. But Uncle Ted is still crazy, saying all sorts of things.”

Elsewhere in our interview, Jett shared his memories of Taylor Hawkins “fucking amazing”. His new album ‘Changeup’ with The Blackhearts is out now.
