Taika Waititi has revealed that Rita Ora proposed to him, and that the director of the film said “yes immediately”.
The couple tied the knot in 2022, and now have a glimpse of their wedding day for a new feature in Vogue.
In the article, Waititi reveals that it was the pop star who proposed: “She proposed to me, and I immediately said yes.” On the wedding, he says: “It wasn’t in London or France as everyone reported. It was in Los Angeles with a small group of friends.”
Ora added, “It was a lot of fun for us to see the different stories that people came up with and keep them to ourselves at the same time.”
“And, I love that we can now share what really happened … and do it on our first anniversary, no less!”
Waititi told the day: “It was lovely. To have close friends and not be too big. We didn’t have to set the table or any of the stressful things that come with weddings, and it was nice to it was so easy.”
“My daughters were there, and they made it so much fun and so easy: I think just because we didn’t have the pressure of having caterers and all that stuff, you know, people running late , and all the different moving parts.”
In an interview earlier this year, Ora spoke about how her marriage to Taika Waititi “changed her forever” and how her husband encouraged her to return to writing music.
“I’ve never felt that [amor]”, he says, “so I wrote it all down and I was like, ‘Okay, I think it’s time to get back to making music.’ And here we are.”
Ora released her new album ‘You & I’ last month, and shared lead single ‘You Only Love Me’ in January, which Waititi featured on the opening vocal note of the recent single .
