Bandai Namco has launched a new mixed media project titled SYNDUALITY, created by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bandai Namco Filmworks (formerly Sunrise), and Bandai Spirits. A visual teaser of the anime was also released as part of the announcement.
According to a blog post from producer Yosuke Futami, SYNDUALITY takes place in a dystopian future where poisonous rain and deformed creatures wreak havoc on the world, where the player and an AI partner must find a way to work together and reclaim lost ground for humanity.
Mixed media SYNDUALITY is a sci-fi third-person shooter with Neco doing the character design and Gyobu doing the mechanic design. More details about the upcoming anime project will be released on September 18th, while game details will be released on September 22nd.
The sci-shooter game places the player as a Drifter who makes his living by collecting AO Crystals; a rare resource that can only be obtained in dangerous terrestrial environments. The player will take on each mission in the Cradle Coffin, an armed vehicle that will make someone mobile during the adventure. Players can customize their Cradle Coffin – not only its appearance, but also the weapons equipped to make the player’s Cradle Coffin fit their own playstyle.
PlayStation describes the plot of SYNDUALITY as:
The year is 2222. Years have passed since the Tears of the New Moon, a mysterious rain, poured down and wiped out almost the entire human race. The poisonous rain gave birth to deformed human-devouring creatures, and humanity fled the danger. As a means of survival, people then build an underground shelter; Amasia. In this newly built dystopian city, in their quest to survive, they encounter an artificial intelligence named Magus. Not knowing how things will work between them, the story begins of how humans and AI match and try to find their truths.
