Social deduction game “Goose Goose Duck”, like “Among Us”, breaks records of players on Steam after BTS stream

Among Us, the social deduction game Goose Goose Duck has broken records on Steam after BTS’s V started streaming on it.

According to the latest figures, the free-to-play game reached a peak of 563,677 players, making it the third most popular game on the platform.

Goose Goose Duck was originally released in October 2021, following an Early Access release six months earlier.

The peak came in February last year, with 21,362 players in the social deduction game, where players take on the role of geese trying to hide the duck.

But after V started broadcasting Goose Goose Duck to its fans through the Weverse social app and web platform, became much more immediate, growing from about 6,000 concurrent players in mid-November to nearly 130,000 concurrent players a month later. The maximum number of players tripled by the end of the year.

That boom has been huge for, according to Polygon, which reported the Goose Goose Duck server crash on January 2, following a massive influx of new players.

“We appreciate all the love and support,” the developer said in a post on Steam. “We were expecting a huge increase in players, but not like this. A 250k increase from our already huge player base was too much. We are working to increase capacity as quickly as possible and will keep everyone informed. We sorry for the inconvenience, we’re all working hard to make sure everyone can play.”

For his part, V recently shared a stylish cover of the holiday classic “It’s Starting To Look A Lot Like Christmas.”

The theme was originally written by Meredith Wilson in 1951 and first published the same year by Perry Como and The Fontane Sisters with Mitchell Ayers & His Orchestra. Over the years, it has been covered by the likes of Bing Crosby, Michael Bublé, Meghan Trainor and many more.
