Shame to share his thoughtful new single ‘Adderall’

Shame to share one final glimpse from their new album ‘Food For Worms’ – listen to ‘Adderall’ below.

The band’s third album is out on Friday (February 24) via Dead Oceans, and has so far featured the tracks ‘Fingers Of Steel’ and ‘Six Pack’.

Speaking of “Adderall,” one of his most reflective and smooth tracks to date, singer Charlie Steen said, “‘Adderall’ is what one thinks of being dependent on prescription drugs. These pills change your mental and physical state and change their behavior, how this affects them and those around them.

“It’s a song about compassion, frustration and accepting change. It’s partly about accepting that your help and love can’t heal those around you, as much as it angers you, you will never let go.” to try to help.”

In the recent NME Big Read cover ahead of the new album’s release, Shame revealed that ‘Adderall’ features a hidden cameo from the band’s labelmate Phoebe Bridgers.

“We thought the song had an American feel and would be good with a female voice,” said drummer Charlie Forbes.

“By chance, she was recording in the same studio as us, and one day we did a craft where Josh went and did a bit of tambourine on his new song, and she came in and did the vocal line on our song – which is in You don’t hear it at all.”

The band are set for a massive UK and European tour later this month, including a London date at Troxy (relocating from the closed Brixton Academy) – you can get tickets here and see the dates below.
