Selena Gomez denies rumors that she is ‘single soon’ due to the weekend
Selena Gomez has denied rumors that her recent comeback song ‘Single Soon’ is about The Weeknd.
‘Single Soon’ premiered on Friday (August 25) and in its lyrics Gomez talks about trading a relationship for her own freedom.
“I’m pickin’ this dress / Tryin’ on these shoes / ‘Cause I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon,” she sings, adding: “I know it’s gonna be a mess / When I’ll break the news / But I’ll be single soon”.
When the song was released, many believed that the track was written about Abel Tesfaye, but Gomez was quick to deny the rumor. The couple dated briefly in 2017.
Responding to a post on Instagram, he simply wrote: “Couldn’t be more fake.”
Last week, Gomez announced that she would be releasing a new song to entertain her fans as she works to complete her third album. Taking to Instagram, he shared a photo of the song’s cover art with a caption that read, “You’ve been asking me for new music for a while now. Since I haven’t finished SG3 yet, I wanted to put out a fun song. I wrote a while ago that is perfect. by the end of summer.”
The pop singer previously shared her upcoming musical direction following the release of her AppleTV + documentary My Mind and Me.
“The music I’m making now is about real things that I’m going through. It’s very powerful, strong, very pop. In general, the theme is freedom: freedom from relationships, freedom from darkness,” he explains.
On the other hand, Fred recently previewed a new song featuring Gomez. During a recent live show, the DJ/producer played a previously unreleased track featuring Gomez’s vocals and a sample of Laura Rivers’ 1967 song “That’s All Right.”
