Rob Grant, father of Lana Del Rey, announces his first album

Lana Del Rey’s father, Rob Grant, has announced details of her debut album, due out this summer.

Lost At Sea” is out June 9 via Decca Records, and features Lana herself – real name Lizzie Grant – on the album’s title track and another song called “Hollywood Bowl”.

The first single from the album, “Setting Sail On A Distant Horizon”, has been released today alongside the album announcement.

Of the song, Grant says, “‘Setting Sail’ is a piano piece that I wrote about the happiness and freedom I felt setting sail from Newport, RI, on my 25 foot schooner ‘Erewhon,’ going to Nantucket and Martha’s Islands . Vineyard.

“The ridge starts slowly and then builds as the sails fill with wind and the boat starts to heave, leaning heavily into the Atlantic swell. The ridge pulls you forward as it goes the slope speeding, catching more wind going towards the distant sky.” .

Via UPROXX, Rough Trade has already deleted a note about the album: “Rob Grant releases his debut album, Lost At Sea, through Decca Records. Grant is an accidental artist who has never had any instrumental lessons in his life. No training he has music. none He can’t read sheet music But when he sits down at the piano something magical happens Notes flow from him, composition after composition pouring out.

“The father of international icon Lana Del Rey enlisted an array of talent to help make the album. His daughter Lana Del Rey has contributed as a songwriter, and Jack Antonoff, Luke Howard, Laura Sisk and Zach Dawes have participated in the production. Now signed to Decca Records, Rob Grant is ready to take on the next adventure as he embarks on his new music career.”
