Reverend And The Makers invite Jeremy Corbyn to a concert in London
Reverend And The Makers have offered Jeremy Corbyn a guest list for their upcoming concert at London’s Islington Assembly Hall.
The band will go on tour in February, and last month they took to Twitter to let fans know that concert tickets are starting to sell out. “Seats sold out. Many more very, very close. Don’t say I didn’t tell you”, write The Reverend And The Makers.
Corbyn, who is the current MP for Islington North, answered for the tweet saying “glad you’re in Islington”.
Then the Reverend and the Makers gave the invitation, writing “be welcome as my guest if you are free.”
Speaking to NME about Corbyn in 2017, Reverend And The Makers Jon “The Rev” McClure said: “The press is owned by millionaires. Corbyn is attacked every day because he is a threat to their wealth and power. Farce” .
Asked if he had spoken to Corbyn, who follows the band on Twitter, McClure said: “Yeah, a bit. His family asked him to come to the Tranmere Rovers gig. [Wirral Live, que tuvo como cabeza de cartel a The Libertines], and I introduced him on stage to 20,000 people singing his name to ‘7 Nation Army’. Afterwards, he thanked us for our support of the Hillsborough Justice campaign and praised us in a few interviews. I like you.”
Earlier this month, Reverend And The Makers announced their seventh studio album, “Heatwave In The Cold North”, due for release on 28th April 2023.
The band’s debut album from 2017, ‘The Death Of A King’, is sparked by the title track and the rousing single ‘High’.
The band will also hit the road for their first UK tour in four years in 2023, kicking off at Brighton Concorde 2 on February 2, with a stop at London’s Islington Assembly Hall before finishing with two shows back home in Sheffield. Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey and The Ramona Flowers will be the opening act.
