Renè, beloved Italian DJ and resident of the Circoloco de Ibiza, has died at the age of 47.
The DJ (real name Renato Gimani) died in a Rome hospital due to heart complications related to a congenital malformation, a disease he was diagnosed with as a child (via Corriere Della Serra).
As Mixmag points out, Renè was a beloved DJ and a fixture in Ibiza in the early 2000s. Born in Rome, he started DJing as a teenager and later moved to Riccione, north of San Marino, where he played in discos such as Titilla, Peter Pan and Cocoricò.
In 2000, Renè moved to Isle of White to continue his music career. After moving, he began a residency at the Circoloco DC-10 nightclub and remained one of the fixtures on the Ibiza dance scene for years to come.
In addition, Renè has toured the world and performed at renowned clubs and events such as Sonár Festival in Barcelona, The End nightclub in London and Bar 25 in Berlin.
Paying tribute on Facebook, a spokesman for Circoloco from Ibiza wrote: ‘We are saddened by the news of Dj Rene’s sudden death.’ We have left behind a friend, a brave man and a great DJ.
“The entire Circoloco family wishes to express our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. René, we will miss you.” You can see that post above, and more posts below.
It was reported that René’s funeral took place yesterday (February 27) in Piazza del Popolo in Rome.
