Rebel Wilson pays tribute to Olivia Newton-John: “It was a blessing to meet her”

Rebel Wilson has paid tribute to Olivia Newton-John after her death.

The iconic singer and star of Grease died peacefully at the age of 73 at her home in Southern California on Monday (August 8).

Wilson, who played Newton-John’s daughter in the film A Few Best Men, is now one of the latest stars to pay her respects, paying heartfelt tribute to the late star. post instagram.

“@therealonj you were the most beautiful woman inside and out, you are a true Australian icon and to play your daughter on screen in A FEW BEST FIR was beyond honour,” Wilson wrote alongside an image of himself , smiles alongside Newton-John and co-star Laura Brent.

The Senior Year star also noted how Newton-John’s role as Sandy in the 1978 musical Grease inspired her growing up in Australia.

“Watching you star in the Hollywood blockbuster GREASE with your natural accent was very important to me growing up because it helped me believe that an Australian girl could star in major international musicals,” she wrote.

“You were the reason I auditioned for my high school production of GREASE at age 15; I was only in the choir, but it was the beginning! You tried to teach me about health years before I took it seriously. You were very nice. me and it was a blessing to meet you Olivia.

“I’ll never forget that we sang together at the piano on our lunch break on set – you’re an absolute legend! I’m so sad you’re gone. Love and light to you always ONJ, Rebel xoxo.”

Newton-John’s death was announced on Tuesday (August 9) by her husband, John Easterling. She wrote in a statement: ÔÇťOlivia has been a symbol of strength and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.

“Her medical inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, which is dedicated to plant medicine and cancer research.”

John Travolta, who starred opposite Newton-John in Grease as Danny Zuko, was one of many stars to pay tribute to the singer-actor, writing in the networks social: “Dear Olivia, you made our lives so much better. Your influence was incredible. I love you so much.”

“We’ll see each other on the road and we’ll be together again. I’m the first moment I saw you and forever! For Danny, Sean!”
