Pink recalled being told her music career would be “over” if she had children.
Instead, the singer – who has an 11-year-old son and a six-year-old son – said she believes her career “started” after becoming a mother.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: “Everyone told me, ‘If you have kids now, your career is over.’ But I think, strange to me, everyone has this idea of me that I am. Guys I’m a bachelor right?
“And obviously we are all much more complicated than that, but when I had a child, I think I moved up to the world, the part that I didn’t understand me. And I think that’s where it started my career, really. I mean, I did a lot of things before that, but really, I think that’s when I really started to understand myself and the world, and my place in it.”
Pink later said that she felt “lonely” being only a musician, and that she wanted something else in her life: “Family was really important to me, because my family life was isolated as a child and I’m very loving and cuddly and goofy It wasn’t enough for me to make music I felt lonely I felt very lonely It’s a very lonely business.
“I really wanted to have a family and it was as important to me as ambition, because I didn’t want to, if only … if this is the carrot, I ate it. I’m still hungry. Yes I’m hungry. I’m empty, and I love it.. writing songs. I love singing songs. I love acting. Sitting with a guitar is one of my favorite things to do in life, but snuggling with my taking kids camping and it’s so good to get dirty for three days is one of my favorite things to do. the coolest things I’ll ever do, and making wine is great too. “
Pink’s new album Trustfall dropped yesterday (February 17). Pink will return to the UK later this year for her “Summer Carnival” UK tour, which includes two dates at BST Hyde Park on June 24 and 25.
