Paramore cancels remaining North American tour dates due to illness
Paramore have canceled the remaining concerts of their 2023 North American tour due to illness.
The group recently postponed four live performances after Hayley Williams fell ill during a performance in Houston, Texas. He later revealed that he was suffering from a lung infection.
Williams and company made it to two of the affected dates – San Francisco on Monday (August 7) and Seattle last night (August 9) – but the singer has since confirmed the cancellation of both concerts another.
“Hello everyone, we just got off the stage in Seattle. After speaking with our team and my doctor, I know that trying to finish this tour will be detrimental to my health,” Williams wrote in his Instagram stories.
“My lungs aren’t healing fast enough to keep up. I was a little scared tonight.”
He continued: “The team will issue an official statement as soon as possible, but we will have to cancel the last two shows of the tour to recover. I know some of you are already camped out in Portland , so I wanted to let the word out.
“I’m so sorry for all the chaos this has caused some of you. I tried really hard to start this shit. I love you all.”
Paramore was scheduled to perform at Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum tonight (August 10) and at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Sunday (August 13).
Williams recently explained that “touring at 34 is different than it is at 16,” later lamenting those who criticized her for delaying concerts.
Paramore toured in support of their sixth and final studio album, 2023’s This Is Why.
Next May, the group will travel to the United Kingdom and Europe as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour”.
