Paramore have announced their first new single in over five years, ‘This Is Why’ – check out the post below.
The Hayley Williams-led trio have been teasing on social media recently about their return to the stage early next month.
A snippet of a new tune surfaced on the band’s Discord channel last week, and another clip later surfaced on TikTok. This latest preview was uploaded to an account called ‘isthiswhyisthisiswhy’.
Today (September 16), Paramore confirmed that a new track titled ‘This Is Why’ is coming on Wednesday, September 28. You can pre-save/pre-add it here.
Accompanying the news is the appearance of the official art for the upcoming single. Last week, Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro used another part of the image as their respective social media profile pictures.
The image shows the group pressing their faces against a window covered in condensation. Check out the announcement tweet below.
Yesterday (September 15), Paramore updated a mysterious calendar on their website to include the message “ps TIW” next to today’s date. The schedule also suggests that the trio will “start spreading the word” about something on Monday (September 19).
‘This Is Why’ will mark Paramore’s first new material from their fifth studio album, 2017’s ‘After Laughter’.
Back in January, Paramore revealed that they were in the studio working on a new record.
Williams explained at the time that she and York were reminiscing about some of their early influences before they began writing the LP. But the trio said that was not the same as saying they were going to release a “back to ’emo'” record.
This summer, the singer reported again on Paramore’s sixth album, saying she was partially inspired by Bloc Party.
Paramore will embark on a North American tour on October 2, featuring two newly announced concerts in Los Angeles. The tour will “give fans a unique opportunity to see Paramore in some intimate venues.”
In addition, Paramore will be appearing at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, Austin City Limits in Texas, and the Corona Capital in Mexico City.
Since ‘After Laughter’, Hayley Williams has released two solo albums: ‘Petals For Armour’ (2020) and ‘Flowers For Vases / Descansos’ (2021).
