Onimusha is officially getting an anime adaptation coming to Netflix, as announced at the NetflixTUDUM 2022 event. You can get your first look at the anime version of the popular CAPCOM game below:
The anime will be created by Takashi Miike (Blade of the Immortal, Terra Formars, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Diamond Is Unbreakable, Chapter I) as the main director and Shinya Sugai (Shikizakura, The Dragon’s Dogma) as director of Sublimation Studio. The main character Musashi Miyamoto is modeled after the late Toshiro Mifune.
CAPCOM developed and published the first Onimusha game for Playstation 2 in January 2001. An updated version was released for Xbox in 2002.Onimushathere were seven other entries in the following years, while the last was an HD remaster of Onimusha: Warlordswhich was released in 2019 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
