Noel Gallagher has previewed Robert Smith’s remix of ‘Pretty Boy’ – watch the video below.
The original version of the track (featuring Johnny Marr) came out last October and appears on Gallagher High Flying Birds’ fourth album ‘Council Skies’, out June 2nd via Sour Mash (pre-order here).
Back in January, the former Oasis singer-songwriter explained that Smith’s upcoming version is “exactly like The Cure,” while discussing how the collaboration with the bandleader came about.
Gallagher has posted a short clip of Smith’s version of “Pretty Boy” on social media. Part of the song serves as the soundtrack to a video featuring screenshots of various press articles about the collaboration.
The new teaser suggests that the remix may be coming soon, but the release date is still unknown. You can listen to it below:
Earlier this year, Gallagher recalled, “‘Pretty Boy’ as it developed was reminiscent of The Cure’s day-to-day. And it was one of those crazy ideas that you often have in the middle of night, thinking, ‘I’m sorry. .’ I wonder if Robert Smith [participaría]. I wonder if I will be able to contact him.’
“I asked him if he wanted to participate, I sent him the song and he really liked it. He did the remix. And I liked it. I didn’t see it. I had never having spoken to him.”
He did not confirm if Smith was singing on the new version.
Gallagher spoke about ‘Pretty Boy’ for the first time in 2020. “I’ve written a song that’s very similar to The Cure,” he said then. “And I didn’t even have to downgrade the copyright, it sounds just like The Cure.”
This summer, Noel Gallagher will present “Council Skies” in a series of outdoor concerts across the UK, including a recently announced date in Brighton. You can view the full itinerary and purchase any remaining tickets here.
