New Order have shared a live performance of The Haçienda’s ‘Sunrise’ in 1985. Watch the NME performance video below.
The song appeared on the Manchester band’s third studio album, “Low-Life”, which was repackaged and reissued as a special expansion box set on January 27, 2023 (pre-order / pre-save here).
The upcoming collection will include several versions of “Sunrise”, including a “writing session recording” and a raw instrumental mix.
Songs from concerts from the “Low-Life” era in Tokyo, Rotterdam, Toronto and Manchester will also be broadcast live.
This latest performance was part of a Whistle Test session filmed by the BBC at the legendary Haçienda venue. Today (December 8), New Order have posted a video of that performance on their official YouTube channel:
The new reissue of “Low-Life” will come in LP, 2CD and 2DVD format, together with a special book.
Several 12-inch singles will also be released, including “Shellshock,” “Sub-Culture,” and “The Perfect Kiss.” These limited edition discs can be ordered here now.
New Order released in 2020 a special box set of their second dominant album “Power Corruption & Lies”. The 1983 record includes the tracks “Blue Monday”, “Age of Consent” and “Your Silent Face”, and was named NME’s best New Order album of 2018.
Speaking to NME for a special retrospective interview on the reissue, Peter Hook said: “Those were great days. You felt like you were changing the world. Looking back, I think Joy Division and New Order changed the world , culturally and musically.
“Power, Corruption & Lies was our honeymoon period. It’s comforting to realize what we’ve done together. It’s worth it.”
This summer, New Order toured North America with the Pet Shop Boys.
