MONSTA X singer Kihyun has confirmed to release new music next month.
On September 14, South Korean media outlet Sports Dongah reported that the K-pop idol will be coming back with his second solo album in October. A source from Starship Entertainment responded to the report shortly after it was published, writing in a separate statement to TopStarNews, according to Soompi’s translation, “It is true that Kihyun is preparing his second solo album with the goal of will be released at the end of the year. October after you recently finished MONSTA X’s concert. Show your support and interest.”
Kihyun’s yet-to-be-titled second album will be MONSTA X’s first album since it was announced that all members of the boy band had their contracts renewed with Starship Entertainment, except for IM. He has made it clear that he will continue to be a part of the boyhood.
Kihyun will also come back around seven months after debuting as a solo artist in March with the solo album ‘Voyager’, led by the title track of the same name. Before officially debuting as a solo artist, Kihyun contributed several solo songs to K drama OSTs such as What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim and Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol.
In an interview given to NME at the time of the release of “Voyager”, Kihyun discussed the guidance he received from his bandmates Joohoney and IM, who released their own solo material before Kihyun.
“Joohney gave me some advice, like real musical advice, like serious lyrical advice,” Kihyun told NME. “But IM was making fun of me and pretending to be an older artist who had done his own thing [debut] previously single, and [actuaba como si] he was older than me.”
