
MOBOs 2022: Nova Twins, Little Simz and FKA champions among nominees
Nova Twins, Little Simz and FKA twigs are some of the nominees for this year’s MOBO Awards.
Celebrating black music, the annual ceremony will mark 25 years of the edition at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Wednesday 30 November. Tickets are available here.
As announced this morning (November 11), the Nova Twins are up for the Best Alternative Act statue alongside Skunk Anansie, Big Joanie, Bob Vylan, Kid Bookie and Loathe.
This category is new for 2022, as is Best Electronic/Dance Act. This latest list includes offshoots FKA, Jax Jones, Nia Archives and more.
In a statement, Nova Twins wrote: “What a moment this is, this is a huge victory for the alt community. To think back to two years ago when we wrote our open letter, until now, to be here celebrating the category this new alongside everyone. the amazing artists who help push the genre forward, as well as Kanya [King, fundadora de MOBOs] and the MOBO team.”
The duo continued, “While working with Kanya, we were amazed at the ferocity with which she fought for what she believed in while keeping MOBOs thriving and developing. the musician they want to be, whether it’s hip hop, rock, pop, punk, r&b or anything in between, the choice is yours.”
Elsewhere on the nominees list, Little Simz is up to four awards in total: Best Female Performance, Album of the Year (‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’), Video of the Year (‘Point And Kill’), and The Best Hip. Interpretation. hop.
Central Cee has also received four nominations: Best Man, Song of the Year (‘Doja’), Video of the Year (‘Doja’) and Best Drilling Act. He shares the best male act category with Dave, D-Block Europe, Digga D, Knucks and Tion Wayne.
The rest of the Best Female Performance list consists of Mahalia, Miraa May, Ms. Banks, Pinkpantheress and Tiana Major9. Other MOBO 2022 nominees include Kojey Radical, Novelist, Ezra Collective and Sean Paul.

This year’s ceremony is held in association with Lucozade, who are also sponsoring the “Best Song” category.
According to a press release, the list of “superstar artists” and the hosts for MOBO 2022 will be revealed “soon.”
