Louis Tomlinson Says One Direction’s Zayn Malik’s Recent Covers Makes Him Feel Good

Louis Tomlinson has responded to Zayn Malik’s recent sketch of One Direction covers, saying they make him feel good.

In recent weeks, Malik – who left the group in 2015 – has shared covers of the pop band’s songs, most recently airing a version of ‘Night Changes’. Earlier this summer, he shared a video of himself covering the band’s song ‘You and I’.

Appearing as a guest on The Zack Sang Show this week, Tomlinson discussed his feelings on the covers and whether he and Malik are still friends.

“It’s a different caliber of singer, Zayn, for sure. I’m going to say yes,” said Tomlinson of the covers. “I didn’t like him because I liked him. It was a nice feeling because, you know, in the past he’s said what he said about the band. And I understand some of what he was saying.

“For me, in those videos, he showed that he was meditating,” he said, “he showed that he was thinking about those moments. Of course, at the same time, showing his amazing voice. But on for that he told me well, because he was like, ah, maybe he’s thinking about the good old days of the band”.

Regarding the couple’s current relationship, Tomlinson said, “Are we friends? You’d have to ask him. I think when you asked me a similar question earlier, I said… ‘I don’t think I’m mature enough. to tackle what’s holding me back. from that relationship.’ I don’t know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to dealing with all of that.”

In an interview last month, Tomlinson shared his thoughts on One Direction’s 2011 debut studio album Up All Night, revealing that he doesn’t particularly like it after 11 years.

Tomlinson will release his second solo album “Faith In The Future”, the follow-up to his first full-length (“Walls”, 2020), on November 11. You can reserve the album here.

Tomlinson’s next album was produced by Mike Crossey, who has previously worked with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The 1975 and Wolf Alice. The singer co-wrote the LP with The Music frontman Rob Harvey and the Red Triangle songwriting and production team.
