Militarie Gun have put together an exclusive playlist to accompany this week’s NME cover.
The Los Angeles hardcore band headline The Cover this week (July 3), as we renew our commitment to support emerging talent from around the world on a weekly basis. Each week an emerging artist will be featured in The Cover, and the full interview with Militarie Gun can be read here.
To celebrate, Militarie Gun have put together a playlist called “The Future Of Pop Hardcore” featuring songs by Spiritual Cramp, Softcult, Drug Church and others, groups they consider to be at the forefront of new waves of hard core melodic.

Last month, after an appearance at The Great Escape and a crazy concert in London, the five released their debut album “Life Under The Gun”. In a four-star review, NME said the album “pushes the boundaries of what hardcore can be in 2023, pioneering a melodic approach that could open up the scene to a wider audience completely new.”
In this week’s The Cover interview, the band talk about what it means to them to push the genre into the mainstream. “Hardcore is very youth oriented,” Vince Nguyen explains to NME. “It’s cathartic in a way that everyone can relate to, because it’s less about aesthetics and more about energy. Whether someone is actively participating or just watching, they can feel involved and feel like they are part of something that is bigger than him.”
