Listen to CMAT’s new introspective single “Stay For Something.”
CMAT have released their latest single ‘Stay For Something’ – listen to the song below.
Taken from their upcoming album “CrazyMad, For Me” (out October 13), the single is accompanied by a music video that sees CMAT strutting through a lush castle in a bright neon outfit.
“It’s basically about wondering why I stayed/suffered in a bad relationship for as long as I did,” CMAT (real name Ciara Alice-Mary Thompson) said of the track, ” desperately trying to find some kind of meaning in the mess and then cringe when I remember the good parts.”
“It’s not very lyrical or poetic, it’s just a lot of emotion and energy – to me, this song sounds like running at 1 in the morning with headphones on, screaming in the streets to escape your some problems. I hope at least one person does that when they hear it.
CMAT’s new music follows their debut, ‘If My Wife New I’d Be Dead’, which was on NME’s top 25 debut albums of 2022.
In a four-star review, NME described the album as “a confident collection of songs”, calling the Dubliner “one of the funniest people you’re likely to meet, but also an undeniably talented songwriter with a heart from heart”.
Following their recent performance at Glastonbury, CMAT will tour the UK and Ireland in a mix of in-store performances and solo acoustic sets. He has also added an additional date at the Olympia in Dublin. Tickets go on sale here September 8.
