Lewis Capaldi’s 2018 song ‘Someone You Loved’ has overtaken Ed Sheeran as the most streamed UK song of all time.
The Scottish singer-songwriter has been crowned the new “king of streaming”, surpassing Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’, according to Official Charts data.

The news comes as the Official Angels Charter celebrates its 70th anniversary with a new statistical study of the last seven years.
On Friday 14 November 1952 the first UK Singles Chart was published in the NME, the results of a survey of 20 record shops by former advertising manager Percy Dickins.
The new study revealed that “Someone You Loved” had 562 million streams.
It was also concluded that 179 singles had achieved a million sales, the biggest being ‘Something About The Way You Look Tonight’ by Elton John https://www.culture.com/’Candle In The Wind ‘ in 1997, with 4.94 million sales.
The most recent single to win the award was Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”, which broke one million sales in the UK for the first time.
In addition, it was discovered that the official number 1,404 singles had been achieved, with Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ topping the charts late last month.
“This new survey shows how much music has been heard and bought on the Official Angels Chart over the past eight years, and how much music the British public has enjoyed in that time,” said the chief executive of the Committee. Official Charts Company, Martin Talbot.
