LE SSERAFIM teams up with Ado for the Japanese version of “Unforgiven

LE SSERAFIM recently released the Japanese version of their song “Unforgiven”, featuring Japanese singer Ado.

The song was officially released at 6 pm (August 8) on streaming platforms and YouTube. The original song featured Nile Rodgers, so her Japanese colleague credits Rodgers as well as Ado, who stays true to the structure of the original and lends his voice to the song’s verses. There seems to be no music video for the new song.

“Ado’s powerful voice will blend with the message of LE SSERAFIM’s song, which sets its own path, creating a positive synergy,” the group’s record label Source Music told the Korea JoongAng Daily today. Ado shared his thoughts on collaborating with the quintet in the same statement: “LE SSERAFIM is an artist I really like, and as a fan, it was an honor to collaborate with him. [el grupo]“.

In addition to the song, Ado’s visual director, ORIHARA, created the accompanying illustration, which features animated versions of LE SSERAFIM members alongside Ado’s well-known digital avatar.

The Japanese version of “Unforgiven” is one of three tracks that will appear on LE SSERAFIM’s second Japanese album of the same name. The project will include an original Japanese track titled “Jewelry,” produced by Japanese singer-songwriter imase, as well as a Japanese version of his previous track “ANTIFRAGILE.” The full album will be released in Japanese digitally and physically on August 23rd.

Last week (August 4), the quintet released a new remix of their hit “Eve, Psyche and the Bluebeard’s Wife,” this time featuring Demi Lovato, adding a new verse to the song. It is the latest in a series of remixes of the same song, which featured Rina Sawayama on the English version of the track, as well as South Korean rappers BIBI, Mirani and CAMO on another remix of the song in June.

In June, NME included “Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard’s Wife” in our list of the 15 best K-pop songs of 2023 so far, calling the song “a stylish Jersey club number that gets borderline more addictive with each listen.”
