Lana Del Rey says she wants to sing “the entire second verse” of Taylor Swift’s ‘Snow On The Beach’.
The singer took part in the track from Swift’s 2022 breakthrough album ‘Midnights’, singing a short segment of the song.
In a new interview with Billboard, she opened up about the process of being asked to be on the song, and how she would have played a bigger role if she knew she was the only artist featured on the song.
“Well, first of all, I had no idea that I was the only main character [en esa canción]”, she revealed, “if I had known, I would have played the entire second verse as she wished. My job on a great artist album is to make sure I add to the performance of the song, so I focused more on performance.”
He added that Swift was “very grateful that she wanted me on the album, and I really liked that song. I thought it was nice to be able to close that world, because Jack [Antonoff] and I work together and Jack and Taylor too.”
Last year, Swift expressed her respect for her colleague: “Lana Del Rey is, in my opinion, one of the greatest musical artists of all time. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to be there at the same time with her.
“And the fact that she was so generous to collaborate with us on this song is something that I’m going to be grateful for…for a lifetime. I absolutely love her, and I hope you love the this song as much as I can.” .”
On “Snow On The Beach,” he said, “‘Snow On The Beach’ is about falling in love with someone at the same time they fall in love with you. A cataclysmic moment, in your destiny when you realize that someone feels exactly the same as you at that moment.
And you’re looking around and you’re like, “Wait, is this real? Is this a dream? Is this really happening? Kind of like seeing snow falling on the beach.”
After the song’s release, fans discovered a reference to Janet Jackson, with the two singing the line “Now I’m for you as Janet” together, with Jackson responding with praise for the song.
Lana herself will release her new album “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” on March 24th, after pushing her original release back to March 10th, and will feature features from Father John Misty and Tommy Genesis there. You can see the cover art and full tracklist here.
