January 12, 2022 in Japan is five years since the premiere of the anime adaptation of the manga written and produced by Mengo Yokoyari, Kuzu and Honkai (Mian Scum). This adaptation was made by the studios milk and there were a total of twelve incidents.
Yokoyari published the original manga through the magazine Great Gangan from the publisher Square Enix between September 2012 and March 2017, compiling the work into a total of eight volumes. The play also inspired a live – action television series directed by shōgo miyaki Y Shunsuke Shinada, released in January 2017 and with twelve episodes.
In addition to the spin-off manga Kuzu no Honkai: Décor, the play inspired an anime adaptation of twelve studio – produced episodes milk, led Masaomi Ando and scripts written by Makoto Uezu, which premiered during the Winter-2017 season (January-March). Since it was produced near the end of the original story, the anime adapted the whole story from the manga, although it did leave some extra details.
Summary on Kuzu no Honkai
For the outside world, Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya are the perfect match. But in reality, they are only sharing the same secret pain: they are both in love with others who cannot be with them. Hanabi has loved her childhood friend and neighbor Narumi Kanai for as long as she can remember, so she is happy to find out that he is her new class teacher. However, it is not long before Narumi notices the music teacher, Akane Minagawa, and the relationship begins to blossom between them, much to Hanabi ‘s disappointment. Mugi was instructed in high school by Akane, who has been under pressure ever since. He meets Hanabi by chance contact in the hall. As these two lonely souls spend more time together, they decide to use each other as a substitute for the person they truly love, sharing physical relationships with each other to prevent their loneliness.
