Kimi no Na wa live action already has a new director

Carlos López Estrada chosen by really important, Bad robot Y Take to rewrite and direct the live-action version of the director’s feature film makoto shinkai, Kimi na Nawa (Your name). The film is currently in development and is based on the 2016 animated romantic drama, which is considered a modern classic in Japan.

López Estrada is writing the current script. An Oscar-nominated screenwriter penned the original version, Eric Heisserfamous for his work on Arrival Y Bird Box. JJ Abramsof Bad robotto produce the film with Hannah Minghella Y Jon Cohenwith Game Genki Kawamuraproduced the original. Kimi na Nawa (Your name) was a huge success in Japan, grossing over $230 million in that country alone.

In this reimagined version, two teenagers discover that they magically and time swap bodies. When a disaster threatens to endanger their lives, they must travel to find each other and save their lives. Take will handle the film’s distribution in Japan; really important it will premiere in the United States and the rest of the international territories.

López Estrada is an Oscar-nominated filmmaker from Mexico City. Its initial aspect, dazzle, which premiered at the opening night of the 2018 edition of Sundance. It sparked a bidding war and was later released by Lionsgate Entertainment. The DGA nominated López Estrada for Best First Film Directionand the film was widely praised.

Summary of Kimi no Nawa

Mitsuha Miyamizu, a high school girl, wants to live the life of a boy in the busy city of Tokyo, a dream that contrasts with her current life in the countryside. Meanwhile, in the city, Taki Tachibana leads a busy life as a high school student working his part-time job and hoping for a future in architecture. One day, Mitsuha wakes up in a room that isn’t hers and suddenly finds her dream life in Tokyo, but in Taki’s body! On the other hand, Taki sees Mitsuha’s life in the lonely countryside. In search of an answer to this strange phenomenon, they start searching for each other. Kimi no Na wa revolves around the actions of Mitsuha and Taki, who greatly affect each other’s lives, weaving them into a fabric bound by fate and circumstances.
