Kazuki Takahashi, author of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Various Japanese media reported deaths Kazuki Takahashi (real name kazuo takahashi), author of the original manga Yu-Gi-Oh!, at the age of 60 years. His body was found by the Japanese Coast Guard on July 6 off the coast of Nago City, Okinawa, while in full diving gear.

Both the coast guard and the police are investigating the events that led to Takahashi’s death. Regarding the announcement, a man from a ship passing by a Japanese maritime hotline asked to report a seemingly floating body 300 meters off the coast of the tourist city of Nago, around 10:30 am last July 6th.

Takahashi started publishing the manga in the magazine Shōnen weekly jump in September 1996 and completed in March 2004, with the publisher Shueisha compile the work in thirty-eight volumes in total. The manga inspired full multimedia franchise, including multiple manga and anime sequences, a card game, and many video games. Many of the incarnations of the franchise are related to the so-called fictional card game Duel monsterswhere each player establishes battle strategies based on the Monsters available in his deck of cards.

The original manga received two anime adaptations, the first being produced by the studios. Toei Animation and issued between April and October 1998, the latter produced by NAS and inspired by Gallop Studioentitled Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel monstersissued between April 2000 and September 2004. Since then, this has been one of the most successful multimedia franchises in history.

The stakes are high, for the one who loses the darkness that dwells in his own heart will have to taste.
