According to sources close to him, Kanye West is preparing to release new music anytime.
Rumors that the artist is preparing to release a new album have been circulating for months, with many fans speculating that the rapper is in the studio working on a new project.
Now, according to a report from NBC News, two reliable sources have confirmed that not only is he working on new material, but that new music will be released “soon.”
Although they did not reveal a release date or if the new material will come in album form, both sources said they were present in the studio with the rapper and his wife Bianca Censori when the team was working on the project.
If the new material becomes a full album, it will be West’s first official studio record since his star-studded 2021 album “Donda,” which featured Marilyn Manson, Jay-Z, The Weeknd and more. It would also follow its unfinished sequel, ‘Donda 2,’ which West partially revealed in February last year.
Donda 2″ was left unfinished and never officially released on digital platforms. West also became less involved with the project later that year, when he sparked controversy over his anti-Semitic views, leading to that he dropped some brand deals and friendships.
Rumors that he was working on new music began gathering steam last month, when collaborator and rapper Rooga revealed that he was “working on an album” in an interview (via American Songwriter). Ice Cube also added fuel to the fire when he told Piers Morgan, after the West controversy, that he is now “doing very well” and plans to come back “on the other side”.
Fya Man, one of West’s producers, further validated the rumors in a Reddit AMA session and confirmed to fans that an album was in the works. He also described it as “fire” and said that the currently untitled LP sounded like “the ‘Old Ye’ but new with the times” (via American Songwriter).
In other Kanye West news, earlier this month Travis Scott brought the rapper out at his special Circus Maximus show in Rome.
“There is no ‘Utopia’ without Kanye West. There is no Travis Scott without Kanye West. There is no Rome without Kanye West. Make noise for Ye,” Scott told the audience, introducing West on stage. The two of them sang “Praise God” and “I Can’t Do It” together.
Additionally, on Sunday (August 27) Taylor Swift also referenced the rapper at her live show in New Mexico – that is the 2009 VMAs incident, in which West came on stage and interrupted her speech and won the award for Best Female Video.
